Technical Support Engineer


Langgöns, Germany

Job Summary:

The Technical Support Engineer will be responsible to assist Sales with process designs and proposals, to work with customers on bid activities and during Commissioning & After Sales, to understand the patented laser-welding process and to pilot newterra’s products.

Essential Responsibilities

  •  Review customer RFQ’s, specifications and drawings
  • Generate process designs, process flow diagrams & general arrangement drawings
  • Furnish technical and commercial proposals for Sales
  • Ability to clearly communicate a clear value proposition in each of our offerings
  • Provide technical support in front of end users, customers and consultants (during feasibility studies and further project development phases)
  • Support of the sales team during daily work in Marketing and Sales-related processes
  • Work closely on product and market awareness, as well as competitor analysis

Commissioning & After Sales

  • Provide technical support to customers and partners for the installation and configuration
  • Provide technical support during Commissioning, accountable for closeout of all issues
  • Support the implementation of the product applications on site with the customer
  • Provide telephone & eMail support, responding to requests for technical assistance, on-site installations, product implementations, and demonstrations, after start-up and post warranty
  • Travel to customer sites to resolve technical problems


  • Understand newterra’s patented laser-welding process to manufacture MicroClear® filters
  • Work with Manufacturing to further enhance product quality and improve productivity


  • Develop schedules for pilot test and project manage pilot projects
  • Commission pilots and train customers on the use of newterra’s products
  • Collect, review and interpret pilot results and furnish pilot reports

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Technologies or similar
  • Deep Understanding of Water and Wastewater Treatment Equipment & Processes (equipment & instrumentation experience, and/or experience working in the field an asset)
  • Troubleshooting skills (electrical, mechanical, programing, process)
  • Customer-oriented, strong problem solving skills, hands-on mentality
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with customers
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
  • Ability to manage multiple projects; prioritize workload
  • Work in an international environment and across time zones
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Travel domestically and internationally (as much as 20-30%)
  • Technical writing skills & computer proficiency with Word, Excel, Powerpoint (CAD an asset)
